2.13 – Catching Up in Strangetown

April 5, 2010

Allie had so much catching up to do.  Not only with her family, but with the town itself.  She wandered through the streets of Strangetown on her second day back, after a hearty DiPotere pancake breakfast, of course.  As she navigated the town’s few streets, Allie was amazed at how much she remembered, at how much hadn’t changed.  It seemed, as she glanced in shop windows and people’s backyards, that nothing had changed.  But, how was that possible?  It had been over four years, after all.

Finally, on the top of a small hill, she found something new.  A small diner sat across from the old Curious place.  Allie was quite sure it hadn’t been there when she was younger. Seeker Cafe, read the sign, and Allie found herself walking through the doors and into the most eclectic diner she’d ever seen.  The place was a mishmash of bright colors and stark white walls, with UFOs hanging from the ceiling, and the Truth is Out There posters dotting the empty spaces.  Allie had to stifle a laugh.  Too much X-Files, she thought, and was just about to walk out the door when something caught her eye.  Or rather, someone.

The man that poked his head out from beneath a counter was gorgeous.  Allie felt herself smile.  She couldn’t seem to help it.  She’d been missing Dominick so much since the two had gone their separate ways after University, and Dominick was supposed to come visit this weekend.  Now, here she was, already smiling at strange men.

“Can I help you?” said the man.  Oh my, thought Allie.  His voice was even sexier than his face, like spun silk rubbing against her eardrums.

“I…I’m looking for a job,” Allie stammered.  A job? she thought. What was she saying? Allie had an intense compulsion to spin on her heel and run right out of the cafe, but the man’s eyes kept her rooted on the spot.  She found herself telling this man about her experiences working in the cafeteria at University, and her love of cooking, and soon, (too soon, she thought later), she was shaking the man’s hand and promising to start the next morning.

As Allie made her way back out the door, the man’s sexy voice called to her again.

“Allie?  I’m Lazlo, by the way, Lazlo Curious.  See you tomorrow.”

Ok, I admit, I’m pretty sure getting Allie hired to work through a playable character’s business lot = legacy cheating, but I really wanted to do it for the story. Soon she’ll get a real job via the newspaper, promise! (Besides, her wages are so low I can’t imagine it’s really cheating, lol).

I’ve just read every chapter – I’m hooked! Congratultions, a very late one, on the birth of your gorgeous son. Also – I want more about Lazlo and Allie’s deepening relationship; more importantly I want to know the truth on the curse 😛

Welcome, and thank you! I haven’t had the time to do much of anything Sims related (thanks to that gorgeous new son you mentioned;) but I’ll be getting back to it soon!
