Mirabella – Entry #1

August 1, 2009

1.1

Well, it’s me — Mirabella DiPotere. I’ve never kept a blog before, but mom got me this computer right before…well, we’ll get to that.  Anyway, she wanted me to start writing about my life, so that one day I could pass everything on to the next generation. (Aaaack! Can you imagine me with a kid? Too funny!)

Although, Maria’s mine to look after now. She’s so amazing, that sister of mine. She could be anything, anything at all. Me, I could barely keep my grades above a D!  All I wanted in life was to uncover the…the WITCH behind this DiPotere Curse. Although, I guess I’m a witch too, or at least I have some powers…but now I’m really getting ahead of myself.

So much has happened to me since the night Maria transitioned into teen-hood.

I’m not the only one. Maria’s had her share of adventures, like the time she set the stove on fire cooking a tv dinner. Luckily, Mom and Dad were there to put the fire out. They had it out before the fire truck had even arrived.  I always thought Mom and Dad were so perfect together. But, I guess I was wrong about that, too.

One night, shortly after Maria’s birthday party, Mom sent Dad away. She said it wasn’t any one’s fault, really, just that it had to do with the curse and she didn’t want to go into it. You know you’re growing up when things happen you never dreamed possible. Except this felt more like a nightmare. I watched my Dad leave that night powerless to do anything to stop him.

Dad looked so sad as he got into the cab that night, and I figured Mom would explain everything when she was ready. She just never got the chance.

The next night, as Mom got out of the car from work, a dark figure appeared out of nowhere. Maria and I watched helplessly as Death came for Mother. At first Mom looked horrified, but as she began to pass over, she looked ready. Maria and I, though, were another story. Maria was so young, not to mention me!

I tried hard to put on a brave face for Maria, but inside I was a wreck. I had no idea what I was going to do.
